KD firewood is dried in the same lumber kilns (ovens) used by the lumber industry. It is consistent in size, quality and moisture content (20 to 25%). It is USDA Certified, free of bugs and due to the low moisture content it produces the true BTU rating (heat) for each species of firewood. It is very clean and thus can be stored inside. KILN DRIED Firewood is much more efficient than poor quality air dried wood.

Due to recent economic conditions there has been a decrease in the amount of trees made available for firewood while there has been an increase in the demand for firewood. The NYSDEC has also imposed a 50 mile quarantine radius restricting the transport of firewood in NY state.These major factors have lead to a shortage of quality firewood that is prevalent on Long Island and throughout much of the Northeast.
